Burnham Strengthens UK Support for Ukraine with Zelensky Visit

On his first week as Prime Minister, Burnham welcomed Ukrainian President Zelensky at Downing Street, reaffirming the UK's commitment to supporting Ukraine. During the visit, Burnham announced the transfer of intellectual property for the Stone Cloak electronic warfare system, which will enable Ukraine to manufacture the technology on a larger scale.

This compact system is designed to prevent Russian forces from detecting drones equipped with it. The UK Ministry of Defence has already supplied thousands of electronic jammers to enhance Ukrainian drone capabilities.

Burnham indicated that the Stone Cloak technology would be integrated into the UK's next generation of long-range strike weapons, including Project Brake Stop, aimed at developing low-cost cruise missiles. Additionally, Burnham and Zelensky were scheduled to meet over 200 Ukrainian military personnel who completed training in the UK under Exercise Sea Breeze, which focuses on combat readiness and counter-mine operations in the Black Sea.

Burnham had previously pledged to continue the strong support for Ukraine established by his predecessor, Keir Starmer.
