CAF Overturns Edo Queens' Win, Orders Extra Time Replay

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has annulled Edo Queens’ penalty shootout victory over Ghana's Ampem Darkoa Ladies in the WAFU Zone B final for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers. This decision, dated September 26, 2026, followed a formal protest from the Ghana Football Association regarding the procedure used during the match held on September 5 in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

The match ended in a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes, leading to a penalty shootout that Edo Queens won 4-1. However, CAF ruled that the shootout should not have occurred without first playing two 15-minute periods of extra time, as required by competition regulations.

The ruling stated that the failure to play extra time was due to an erroneous administrative instruction, not the fault of either team. Consequently, both clubs must return to play the omitted 30 minutes of extra time, with the 2-2 scoreline from regulation time remaining valid.
