CAF Endorses Gianni Infantino for Fourth FIFA Term

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially endorsed Gianni Infantino for a fourth term as FIFA President. This decision was made during a meeting held on April 29, 2026, in Vancouver, Canada, coinciding with the 76th FIFA Congress.

All 54 member associations of CAF unanimously agreed to support Infantino's re-election for the term spanning 2027 to 2031. This endorsement is significant as Africa represents nearly a quarter of FIFA's 211 member associations, thereby unifying support for Infantino's leadership.

Earlier in April, Infantino secured backing from the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL). Infantino, who was first elected in 2016 to replace Sepp Blatter, was previously re-elected unopposed for the term 2019-2023, during which he oversaw significant changes in the world of football.

The FIFA Congress, where the election will take place, is scheduled for next year in Morocco, although Infantino has yet to declare his intent to contest for the fourth term.
