Canada Sets New Work Hour Limits for Student Visa Holders

The Canadian government has released official guidance regarding the working hours for international students on valid study permits. During regular school terms or semesters, these students are permitted to work up to 24 hours per week off campus.

They can hold multiple jobs to reach this total, provided they meet all conditions of their study permit. For students whose permits previously restricted them to 20 hours per week, they can now work up to 24 hours weekly without needing a new permit, as long as they remain eligible under current requirements.

The working hour regulations change significantly during scheduled breaks, such as summer holidays or winter holidays, where there is no cap on the number of hours students can work off campus. Additionally, students on break can take courses, either part-time or full-time, without affecting their ability to work unlimited hours during that period.
