CAPA to Host Child Safety Summit in Lagos on May 22

The Child Advocacy and Protection Alliance (CAPA) is set to host a child safety summit in Lagos on May 22, 2026, aimed at preventing sexual violence against minors and strengthening protective systems for vulnerable children. The event will take place at Iyana Ejigbo, starting at 11:00 AM.

Dr. Wole Olarind, the Executive Director of CAPA, emphasized the need for educational outreach programs to confront the rising incidents of sexual violations against minors.

The summit will include talks and discussions on personal safety behaviors and warning signs for caregivers to recognize when children face abuse risks. Notable speakers include Dr.

Olarind, Dele Oyeleru, who will address the importance of maintaining purity amid threats of pedophilia, and Funmi Ademola, who will present on recognizing red flags associated with pedophilia. Approximately 250 pupils from various schools are expected to attend, as the initiative forms part of a broader effort to enhance public education on abuse prevention and improve child safeguarding awareness across communities.
