NCAN Targets 1 Million Metric Tonnes Cashew Production

The National Cashew Association of Nigeria (NCAN), led by President Mr Ademola Adesokan, has set an ambitious target to boost Nigeria's annual cashew production from 300,000 metric tonnes to one million metric tonnes over the next decade. This announcement was made during the inauguration of the national and state executives of NCAN at the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment in Abuja.

Adesokan highlighted the importance of processing at least half of the projected production within Nigeria and stressed that the initiative is supported by a clear implementation plan. He noted that the success of this roadmap relies heavily on grassroots activities in the states where cashew is cultivated.

The Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, represented by Olumuyiwa Jayi-Ade and Popoola Abimbola, expressed commitment to supporting the cashew industry and acknowledged the critical role of NCAN in formulating the Nigeria Cashew Roadmap. They plan to collaborate with various stakeholders to develop implementation frameworks for the roadmap.
