Chaos as Police Fire Teargas at Protesting Contractors in Abuja

Chaos ensued as the Nigerian Police Force fired tear gas at protesting local contractors besieging the entrance of the Federal Capital Territory secretariat due to the government's failure to pay for work executed. The contractors, under the AEGI Indigenous Contractor Association Nigeria, staged a protest, using a coffin as a symbol of the burial of their members' due to debts owed by the federal government.

This incident follows a similar protest at the Ministry of Finance headquarters in Abuja. The contractors accuse the government of trying to push their businesses to the brink by not settling their debts.
