Yongxing Steel Company Donates Home to Edo Orphanage

Yongxing Steel Company, based in Edo State, donated a newly refurbished building to the Catholic Charity Home for the Needy. The donation was formally handed over during a ceremony in Benin City.

Hazel Han, a representative of Yongxing, stated that the need for a new facility was brought to their attention by the Edo State Office of the First Lady. After visiting the old home and witnessing the poor living conditions, the company decided to purchase and refurbish a new building to provide a safe and decent environment for the orphans.

The new home is fully furnished and equipped with essential facilities, including furniture and a generator, and is provided free of charge with no rent attached. Mrs. Nimata Ikhilor, representing the Office of the First Lady, praised the donation as a celebration of compassion and partnership.

Rev Mother Mary Ebewu expressed gratitude for the unexpected support, noting that the home had previously received significant food donations from Yongxing. Very Rev Fr. Michael Oyanoafoh commended the state government for fostering a conducive business environment and encouraged others to engage in corporate social responsibility.
