Chisco Group Donates Buses for Inmate Transportation

The Chisco Group has donated two buses to the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Ikoyi, Lagos, to facilitate the transportation of awaiting-trial inmates to court. This donation, which coincides with the 70th birthday of Chief (Dr.) Chidi Anyaegbu, MFR, CON, aims to address the operational challenges posed by inadequate transportation within the criminal justice system.

The buses can carry up to 100 persons and are intended to improve the timely movement of inmates, thereby reducing missed court appearances and delays in case resolutions. Chief Chidi Anyaegbu stated that the initiative was a response to a practical problem affecting access to justice.

Chief Obinna Anyaegbu, Managing Director of Chisco Transport Limited and Machine Nationwide Limited, emphasized that this is a long-term commitment rather than a mere ceremonial donation. The Chisco Group will also support the maintenance of the buses and monitor their impact on court attendance and case progression.
