CHRICED Warns Against Interference in Justice Tsoho Probe

CHRICED has expressed serious concerns regarding potential political interference in the ongoing investigation of Justice John Tsoho, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja. The Executive Director, Dr.

Ibrahim M. Zikirullahi, issued a statement highlighting the need for the investigation to adhere strictly to legal standards and due process.

Reports indicate that influential political figures are pressuring President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene in the investigation led by the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB). CHRICED emphasized that any attempt to obstruct the investigation would undermine the rule of law and erode public trust in Nigeria's governance.

The organization recalled the previous failure of former Chief Justice Walter Onnoghen to declare assets, which led to his removal in 2019, stressing that the standards of asset declaration should apply uniformly to all public officials. CHRICED called on the National Judicial Council to ensure the investigation is handled transparently to restore public confidence in the judiciary.
