Walson-Jack Urges Media to Enhance Civil Service Accountability

Walson-Jack, the Chief of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), addressed the media during an interactive session in Abuja, Nigeria. As she approaches retirement in a few weeks, she commended journalists for their vital role in communicating and promoting the transformation of Nigeria’s Federal Civil Service.

Walson-Jack stated that the media serves as an essential link between the Civil Service and the citizens it aims to serve. She emphasized that the media's responsibilities extend beyond mere reporting, as their critical examination of policies has contributed to improved operations.

Walson-Jack asserted that strong institutions are not solely built on praise but require constructive criticism, informed scrutiny, and ongoing engagement. She encouraged the media to report the achievements of the Civil Service accurately, address its challenges fairly, and help the public understand the significance of a professional, efficient, and citizen-centered public service.
