Record $9.89bn Spent in 2026 Transfer Window

During the 2026 mid-year transfer window, clubs globally spent more than $9.89 billion on international transfer fees, according to FIFA, marking a record for this period. The spending surge was accompanied by over 12,500 international transfers registered from June 1 to September 2.

English clubs were the largest spenders, totaling over $3.02 billion, followed by Italy with approximately $1.1 billion, Spain with $940 million, Germany with $904 million, and France with $641 million. French clubs, however, generated the highest transfer income, receiving around $1.7 billion, while English clubs earned approximately $1.43 billion.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup played a crucial role in this transfer activity, with 267 players from 47 nationalities who participated in the tournament changing clubs, collectively valued at over $3.3 billion. This demonstrates the commercial impact of World Cup appearances on player market value and club transactions.
