CNG Raises Alarm Over Killings in Plateau and Kaduna States

The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has voiced significant concern regarding the recent killings in Plateau and Kaduna states, describing the violence as brutal and inhumane. At least 14 people were reported killed in Anguwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area (LGA) during an attack on Wednesday, while 13 individuals were reportedly killed and several others abducted in Kagarko LGA, Kaduna State.

CNG's national coordinator, Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, issued a statement on Monday, condemning the attacks as grave assaults on human rights and raising alarms about potential retaliatory actions by youths in Plateau State. The group cautioned against mob violence based on ethnic profiling, which could further inflame tensions and deepen divisions.

They emphasized the urgent need for federal and state governments to take decisive action to protect lives and property, implement proactive security measures, and restore public confidence in security operations. CNG also called for community leaders to avoid inflammatory statements that could worsen the situation.
