COAS Lt.-Gen. Shaibu Commissions New Army Accommodation

On Tuesday, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of the Nigerian Army, commissioned newly constructed accommodation facilities at Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment in Giri, Abuja.

The projects include residences for the Nigerian Army Aviation coordinator, two deputy coordinators, five blocks of six flats for single officers, 27 quarters for Senior Non-Commissioned Officers, and 80 quarters for corporals and below. Lt.-Gen.

Shaibu reiterated his commitment to personnel welfare, stating that the commissioning marks a significant milestone in creating a more professional and welfare-oriented Nigerian Army. He emphasized that adequate accommodation is crucial for the motivation and combat readiness of soldiers, who make significant sacrifices for national defense.

He acknowledged ongoing expansion in response to security challenges, highlighting that personnel welfare is a key aspect of his command philosophy. Maj.-Gen.
