Over 40 Bandits Neutralized in Katsina Security Raid

On July 26, 2026, local security forces, including the Community Watch Corps and hunters, successfully repelled a bandit attack on Guga village in Bakori local government area, Katsina state. The raid involved over 200 armed bandits led by notorious kingpin Idi Abasu Aiki, who aimed to dislodge local security and launch further attacks.

Intelligence gathering enabled a coordinated response, resulting in the neutralization of more than 40 bandits and the elimination of several senior commanders. Dr. Nasiru Muazu Danmusa, the Commissioner for Local Security, reported that Idi Abasu Aiki sustained life-threatening injuries during the encounter.

The operation followed a previous engagement on July 7, 2026, where the same group faced significant losses. Danmusa expressed condolences for five hunters who lost their lives during the operation and reaffirmed the government's commitment to community-based security efforts.

Clearance operations are underway to recover weapons left by the fleeing bandits.
