Seven players from the Jamaican football club Mount Pleasant were denied US visas, preventing them from participating in the upcoming CONCACAF Champion Cup match against LA Galaxy at Dignity Health Sports Park in California. This denial is part of a broader issue affecting Haitian athletes due to a partial US travel ban introduced in June 2025.

Paul Christi, the sports director of Mount Pleasant, expressed concerns about the impact on the squad, which may need to call up several academy players to fill the gaps. The situation underscores the challenges faced by Haitian players, especially as Haiti is set to make its World Cup debut in the summer, co-hosted by Canada and Mexico.

Haiti has been drawn into a challenging group alongside Morocco, Scotland, and Brazil. While the US government has stated that athletic coaches and essential support staff may receive exemptions, there is no guarantee for fans or players.

Mount Pleasant is currently awaiting clarification on whether the affected Haitian players will be able to travel.
