Tinubu Urges NLNG to Convert Gas Flaring into Profit

On Wednesday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu met with the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Board, led by Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Engineer Adeleye Falade, at the State House. He urged the board to convert gas flaring into economic benefits rather than allowing it to continue.

Tinubu expressed his concern for domestic utilization, advocating for the conversion of environmental liabilities into strategic economic advantages for consumers. He commended NLNG for its efforts in maximizing capacity and generating over $150 billion since its inception, with Nigeria receiving about $47 billion in dividends.

The President noted that NLNG had previously operated at 60% capacity due to suboptimal crude production but has now increased to five operational trains due to improvements in the oil and gas sector. Engineer Falade informed the President that all LPG production is currently focused on the domestic market, and further capacity improvements are anticipated.
