Sunday Igboho Blocks Police Attempt to Arrest Tani Olohun in Ibadan

Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, known as Sunday Igboho, intervened on Tuesday in Ibadan, Oyo State, to stop police officers from arresting Abdulazeez Adegbola, an advocate of Isese, the indigenous Yoruba faith. The confrontation took place at Olohun's residence, where officers attempted to take him into custody.

Social media videos from the scene showed officers physically restraining Olohun during the incident. In footage posted online, an officer was seen holding Olohun to the ground as residents gathered around and questioned the identity of the men attempting the arrest. The responding residents challenged whether the uniformed figures were legitimate law enforcement, noting that the vehicle they arrived in bore no licence plate.

According to reports, the police operation was linked to a criminal case pending before a court in Ilorin. The case involves allegations connected to a video said to have mocked Islamic prayer. Following the intervention by Igboho and the crowd, Olohun was later recorded expressing thanks for the support he had received from those present.
