FG Aims to Revive Kolmani Oil Exploration in Bauchi

The Federal Government has committed to reviving exploration activities at the Kolmani Oil Field in Bauchi State. Muhammad Bello, Chairman of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, made this pledge during a verification visit on Monday.

He emphasized the project's significance for Bauchi State, the North-East, and Nigeria as a whole, stating that the momentum from the project's initiation in 2023 needs to be regained. Bello noted that President Muhammadu Buhari is concerned about the project and has assured the governors of mobilization efforts.

The commission will assess the project's current state and report back to relevant authorities. Maiwada Bello, the Bauchi State Commissioner for Natural Resources, indicated that exploration activities had halted since July 2025, prompting the state government to engage with the technical company involved.

He expressed optimism that the commission's visit would lead to a resumption of activities, with the state government ready to provide necessary support under Governor Bala Mohammed's leadership.
