Host Community Urges Action on Kolmani Oilfield Promises

The Pali Development Association, representing the host community of the Kolmani oil field in Bauchi State, has urged the Federal Government to take concrete steps towards the immediate remobilisation of exploration activities at the site. Chairman Hashim Pali made this call on Tuesday, cautioning against using the Kolmani oil exploration project as a political tool ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Pali noted that while the community welcomes genuine commitments to resume exploration, they have previously experienced unfulfilled promises. He referenced commitments made by President Bola Tinubu during his 2023 presidential campaign in Gombe State, expressing disappointment that exploration activities were halted after his administration took office, with all equipment evacuated from the site.

Pali questioned the government's renewed interest in the project as the election approaches, emphasizing the need for accountability and action rather than political rhetoric.
