Coroner's Inquest into Chimamanda Adichie's Son Opens

The coroner's inquest into the death of Chimamanda Adichie's son began on February 25, 2026, presided over by Magistrate Atinuk Adetunji at Court 4, Yaba. Magistrate Adetunji expressed condolences to the family and explained the inquest's purpose to investigate the circumstances of the child's death to prevent future occurrences.

The family's lead counsel, Prof. Kemi Pinheiro SAN, accepted condolences and pledged full cooperation with the inquiry.

The inquest will scrutinize medical records to determine if there was gross negligence, improper monitoring, or wrong drug administration, including propofol, that contributed to the child's death. Prof.

Pinheiro requested the coroner to compel the production of critical evidence, including CCTV footage from Euracar Hospital and complete electronic medical records. The family intends to call expert witnesses, including an anesthesiologist and pediatrician.

The inquest is scheduled to continue on April 14 and May 5, 2026.
