Nigerian Agencies Uncover Financial Trail Linking Ex-Governor Sylva to Alleged Coup Plot

Nigerian security agencies, such as the DIA, NFIU, and EFCC, have revealed details of a financial trail connecting ex-Governor Timipre Sylva to an alleged coup plot against President Bola Tinubu. The investigation involved tracking substantial sums of money linked to the failed coup attempt.

Sylva, a former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and a prominent figure in the ruling APC, was reportedly detained for his alleged role in the plot. Several military officials confessed to their involvement in the coup plan, which allegedly included the use of advanced technology like US drones.

Sylva has vehemently denied any participation in the coup, claiming the accusations are politically motivated to tarnish his reputation ahead of the 2027 general elections. Despite sustaining damage during a military raid on his residence in Abuja, Sylva's spokesperson emphasized his democratic record and loyalty to the APC leadership, asserting his innocence in any plot against Tinubu's administration.
