Court Orders £3.75m Repayment from Illegal Streaming Gang

In May 2023, Derby Crown Court ordered a five-member gang involved in illegal Premier League streaming to repay £3.75 million. The gang, described by Mark Gould, a Premier League director of legal enforcement, operated a service called Flawless TV, which illegally streamed Premier League games.

Four members of the gang were sentenced to a total of 30 years in prison for their involvement in one of the world's largest piracy operations, which serviced around 50,000 customers and employed 30 staff, generating over £7 million from 2016 to 2021. The court's original sentence for the gang included an 11-year prison term for one member.

The court ordered the gang to forfeit £2.35 million within three months, with a potential additional 10-year prison sentence for failure to comply. This case represents the second-largest confiscation order in the UK against illegal streaming services, with funds to be distributed back to the public purse.
