Court Issues Arrest Warrant for Police Officer in Eviction Case

Justice Samira Batur of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama has ordered the arrest of Police Officer Edith Erhunwun after she failed to appear in court for proceedings related to a N300 million unlawful eviction case. The case, identified by suit number FCT HC/CR/222/2023, involves allegations against Erhunwun and property developer Cecil Osakw, who face nine counts including conspiracy and malicious damage.

The prosecution, led by Aderonk Imana, claims that the defendants unlawfully evicted complainants from a residence on Mekong Street, Maitama, in 2022, removing valuables worth N300 million without a valid court order. Despite a previous order for her appearance, Erhunwun did not attend court, prompting the judge to express concern over the lack of progress in securing her presence.

The court has adjourned the matter until September 29, 2026, while encouraging parties to explore settlement options.
