Court Issues Arrest Warrant for Police Officer in N300M Case

Justice Samira Batur of the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama has ordered the arrest of police officer Edith Erhunwun following her continued absence from court proceedings related to a N300 million eviction and property damage case. The case, identified as suit number FCT HC/CR/222/2023, involves allegations against Erhunwun and property developer Cecil Osakw, with charges including conspiracy and unlawful eviction.

The prosecution, led by Aderonk Imana, claims that Erhunwun assisted in unlawfully evicting a complainant from a residence on Mekong Street, Maitama, in 2022, resulting in the removal of valuables worth N300 million. Despite previous court orders, Erhunwun failed to appear, prompting the issuance of a bench warrant.

Justice Batur expressed concern over the lack of progress in securing her appearance and adjourned the matter until September 29, 2026, while encouraging the parties to explore a court settlement.
