Court Orders N’Assembly To Release ₦37 Billion Renovation Records

The court has ordered the National Assembly to release records related to the ₦37 billion renovation project. Justice Emeka Nwite ruled in favor of the Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA) Resource Centre, which had filed the suit.

The court directed the legislature to provide details of the proposal, assessment procedure, and the actual amount approved for the project. The judge stated that the request was in line with the Freedom of Information Act.

HEDA's Chairman, Olanrewaju Suraju, hailed the ruling as a victory for transparency and accountability in governance. He urged the legislature to comply promptly and called on citizens to demand openness from public institutions.

HEDA also appealed to stakeholders, including civil society organizations and the media, to join the push for transparency.
