Court Denies Bail Variation for Miyetti Allah Leader

On Thursday, a Federal High Court in Abuja rejected the bail variation request from Bello Bodejo, the detained National President of Miyetti Allah Kauta Kore. Bodejo is facing prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly laundering $2.63 million.

He was granted bail on July 20, set at N2 billion, with specific conditions for sureties, including tax clearance and property ownership. During the court session, Bodejo's lawyer, M.

E. Sheriff, presented an application for changes to the bail conditions.

The prosecution, represented by Fatai Erewunmi, filed a counter affidavit in response. Justice Inyang Ekwo noted the court's inability to conclude the proceedings before the vacation and advised the parties to seek a vacation judge for the application.

The trial is adjourned until October 5. Bodejo faces multiple counts of accepting cash payments from Sa’idu Abubakar, a former Accountant-General of Bauchi State, exceeding the legal cash transaction threshold.
