Lagos Teacher Remanded for Alleged Defilement of Student

An Ogudu Magistrates’ Court has remanded a lesson teacher named Michael at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre following allegations of defiling a 15-year-old student in Ketu, Lagos State. The Lagos State Police Command disclosed this development on Friday, after the survivor's mother, Mrs.

Zainab Musa, accused some police officers of attempting to coerce her family into accepting N200,000 to withdraw the case. CSP Abimbola Adebisi, the command’s spokesperson, dismissed these claims as “a mere allegation” and confirmed that the case was under investigation.

The incident was reported to the Ketu Police Station on July 13, and Michael was arrested the same day. He collapsed on July 15 while awaiting arraignment and was hospitalized.

Adebisi confirmed that he has since been arraigned and remanded, with the case adjourned until August 24 for further hearing. Ololade Ajayi, founder of the DOHS Cares Foundation, urged the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to ensure justice is served.
