Teacher Surrenders After Allegedly Flogging Student to Death

Dim Eber, a 47-year-old teacher, voluntarily surrendered to the Neni Police Station in Anambra State after being accused of causing the death of a twelve-year-old student through flogging. The Anambra State Police Command, represented by Tochukwu Ikenga, the Public Relations Officer, announced this development in a press statement made available to journalists on Saturday.

The police had been conducting a sustained manhunt as part of their Safe School Protect Squad operations in collaboration with community leaders. Eber is currently in police custody and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Awka for further investigation, which is expected to conclude soon.

The police commended the cooperation of the Adazi Ani community and traditional institutions, whose support contributed to Eber's surrender. They assured the public of their commitment to justice and urged community members to remain calm and refrain from taking the law into their own hands while continuing to provide information to assist ongoing investigations.
