Court Orders Sowore's Remand in Kuje Correctional Centre

On a Monday ruling, the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the remand of Omoyele Sowore, the President of the African Action Congress (AAC), in Kuje Correctional Centre due to allegations of cybercrime. Justice Mohammed Umar directed that Sowore be kept in custody pending the hearing of a motion seeking to stay the execution of an order that revoked his bail.

This order was issued after Sowore failed to appear in court for his trial. The court also dismissed Sowore's earlier application seeking the recusal of Justice Umar from the case based on allegations of bias.

The matter has been adjourned until June 24, where arguments regarding the stay application will be heard. This ruling follows a previous decision on June 16, which revoked Sowore's bail after the Department of State Services (DSS) issued a bench warrant for his arrest.
