Sowore Arrives Court After Bench Warrant Issued

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), arrived at the Federal High Court in Abuja on June 16 after a bench warrant for his arrest was issued. Justice Mohammed Umar revoked Sowore's bail due to his failure to appear for trial.

The Department of State Services (DSS) prosecutor, Kehinde Akinkolu, stated that Sowore allegedly made false claims against President Bola Tinubu, referencing a criminal post made on his Facebook account. The court proceedings had not yet commenced at the time of Sowore's arrival.

Sowore's legal team had previously made an oral application regarding his absence, but the judge ruled against it, leading to the issuance of the arrest warrant.
