Court Revokes Bail of Ex-MFM Chorister, Orders Arrest

The Federal High Court in Lagos, presided over by Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa, revoked the bail granted to Ayotunde Richard, a former chorister of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), and ordered the arrest of blogger Funk Ashekun. This decision came after Ashekun allegedly published libelous content regarding Richard's ongoing criminal case, which includes charges of conspiracy, cyberbullying, and defamation against MFM's General Overseer, Daniel Olukoya.

Richard was previously arraigned on 12 counts related to these offenses, which were said to have occurred between December 2023 and February 2024. The prosecution, represented by Barrister Nosa Waltson Uhumwangho, informed the court of Ashekun's scandalous social media posts.

Despite Richard's counsel, Barrister Ademola Adewal, attempting to distance Richard from Ashekun's statements, the court found the posts to be inaccurate and damaging. Consequently, Richard's bail was revoked, and he will remain in custody until Ashekun is arrested and brought before the court, with proceedings adjourned until April 29, 2026.
