Court Dismisses Amaechi's Suit Against Atiku's ADC Win

The Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Joyc Abdulmalik, struck out Rotimi Amaechi's lawsuit that challenged Atiku Abubakar's victory in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary. The suit was formally withdrawn on Friday, as Amaechi's counsel, Jibrin Okutepa, informed the court that the parties had resolved their differences.

Atiku Abubakar won the ADC presidential primary held in May, securing 1,846,370 votes, while Amaechi received 504,117 votes, and Moham Hayatu Deen finished third with 177,120 votes. Amaechi had previously rejected the outcome, alleging widespread voter disenfranchisement and irregularities, claiming the results were concocted.

He argued that the primary election breached provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 and ADC's constitution. However, the political landscape shifted in June when the ADC announced Amaechi as Atiku's running mate for the 2027 presidential election, leading to the withdrawal of the suit.
