Court to Rule on No-Case Submission in Aliyu's ₦1.5B Case

On February 26, 2026, Justice Yeliam Bogoro of the Federal High Court in Lagos scheduled a ruling for May 8, 2026, regarding a no-case submission by former Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu. The case, brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), involves eight counts of conspiracy and money laundering, totaling ₦1,509,791,200.00 (over one billion five hundred nine million naira).

The prosecution, led by counsel Faruk Abdallah, had previously informed the court that they would call 11 witnesses and tender several exhibits. The defense, represented by Y.

Kalamu Mamman and Mike Osuman, filed the no-case submission on February 5, 2026, after Aliyu was arraigned on April 28, 2017. Aliyu served as the governor of Niger State from 2007 to 2015.
