NFL Fines Cowboys and Saints $500,000 After Brawls

The NFL fined the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints $500,000 each following multiple brawls that disrupted their joint practice on Tuesday in Oxnard, California. The league confirmed the fines on Thursday, emphasizing the importance of good sportsmanship during joint practice sessions.

Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer acknowledged that his team lacked discipline during the practice, stating, “There’s a discipline element to playing this football game, and unfortunately, we didn’t handle that very well today.” The NFL had previously warned all teams about maintaining discipline to prevent injuries during joint practices. The Cowboys are scheduled to play against the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday, marking their second preseason game, while the Saints will face the Rams in Inglewood on the same day as their second exhibition match.
