CP Tijani Fatai Leads Walkathon Against Political Violence

On Wednesday, CP Tijani Fatai, the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, led a youth sensitization walkathon to discourage political thuggery, electoral violence, cultism, and drug abuse as Nigeria approaches another electoral season. The event was organized as part of the 2026 International Youth Day celebrations and began at the Lagos State Police Command headquarters in Ikeja, proceeding to the Computer Village.

Participants included police personnel, members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), National Association of Students, and community leaders. Fatai emphasized the importance of youths as critical stakeholders in society and urged them to engage positively in the electoral process, warning against being used for violence.

Engr. Ibrahim Adigun, Chairman of the Lagos State Youth Council, echoed this sentiment, advising youths to remain vigilant against political manipulation. SP Olivia A.

Ugochukwu, Lagos State Coordinator of POCACOV, also urged youths to reject recruitment into political violence.
