Security Stakeholders Warn Youths Against Electoral Violence

During the 2026 International Youths Day celebration and Police Youth Dialogue at the POWA Hall, stakeholders from the security sector, including the Lagos State Police Command, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Navy, and Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN), cautioned youths against electoral violence and other vices. Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, warned young Nigerians against being recruited by politicians for unlawful activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He emphasized that youths risk facing consequences for crimes committed on behalf of political actors. Fatai urged them to reject attempts to be used as political thugs and to participate in politics lawfully.

He also highlighted the growing threat of digital platforms being used for political violence and misinformation. Commodore Adams Aliu, represented by Commander E.E.

Omokhodion, echoed the need for youths to verify information before sharing it and to exercise restraint in their online interactions.
