APC and Police Accused of Persecuting Adeleke's Party

Kolapo Alimi, the Osun State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the police of persecuting Governor Ademola Adeleke and members of the Accord Party prior to the governorship election. Alimi alleged that the harassment included arrests, detention of party members, disruption of campaign activities, and attacks by suspected political thugs.

He made these claims during an appearance on the Yoruba public affairs program Agbami Oselu in Osogbo. Alimi stated that the pressure on Adeleke and his supporters persisted throughout the election period, complicating the Accord Party's ability to organize rallies and protect its members.

He noted that the police obstructed the party's planned mega rally on August 13, forcing them to reschedule multiple times due to claims of conflicting events with the APC. Additionally, he mentioned that the party was denied access to Freedom Park in Osogbo, with officials from the Nigerian Railway Corporation asserting ownership of the venue, despite it being state-owned.
