Police Arrest Three Suspected Cultists in Lagos Operation

The Lagos State Police Command arrested three suspected members of the Aiye Confraternity during an intelligence-led operation in Imota. The operation, initiated based on credible intelligence from residents, resulted in the apprehension of Jelili Adeyemo, 37, alleged to be the group's armourer, along with Bisoye Adewale, 42, and John Okeafo, 60.

Recovered items included one Beretta pistol, one locally made pistol, seven Dane guns, ten live cartridges, seven expended cartridges, one stun gun, two handcuffs, four cutlasses, and other incriminating exhibits. Preliminary investigations identified the suspects as members of the notorious Aiye Confraternity, with the Beretta pistol allegedly belonging to a wanted cult leader known only as "Mayibone," who remains at large.

The suspects have been arraigned in court and remanded in custody. Commissioner of Police Tijani Fatai reiterated the Command's commitment to combating cult-related violence and urged residents to provide timely information to aid in crime prevention.
