Cross River Tests Bebi Airstrip for Obudu Resort Revival

The Cross River State Government conducted a successful test flight at the Bebi Airstrip in Obanliku Local Government Area on Thursday, as part of efforts to improve access to the Obudu Mountain Resort. Sunday Michael, Special Adviser to the governor on Obudu Ranch, stated that this flight is a precursor to the comprehensive rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Obudu Ranch Resort and its facilities.

The Bebi Airstrip had been closed for years due to safety concerns and regulatory issues, but its reopening is expected to alleviate accessibility challenges for the resort. The Obudu Ranch Resort, a key tourism asset known for its scenic landscape, will temporarily close from September 1 for rehabilitation work.

The intervention will modernize facilities and improve visitor experiences. The state government previously revoked a 25-year concession with CIBA Construction Company Limited in March 2025 due to unmet contractual obligations.

In July 2025, the government allocated N18 billion for the rehabilitation of major tourism assets, including the Obudu Mountain Resort.
