DIG Fayoad Calls for End to Extrajudicial Killings in Osun

Adegoke Fayoad, the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the South West, called on Osun State Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan to work with security agencies to eliminate extrajudicial killings in the state. This directive was issued during a meeting at the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo.

Fayoad expressed concern over the reckless killings of suspected cultists and urged the Commissioner to identify hideouts of those involved and ensure justice is served. He highlighted the rise in cult-related violence, referencing incidents from 2022, and emphasized that such killings should not continue.

Fayoad instructed the Commissioner to collaborate with various agencies to maintain peace and security, stating that traditional checkpoints would be established, especially during the upcoming elections. He condemned the cycle of revenge killings among cult groups, stressing the importance of public safety and the need for a decisive response to these threats.
