Cult Clash in Ilesa, Osun State Leaves Three Dead

The Osun State Police Command reported that three individuals, identified as Idowu, Yinka, and Eja, were killed during cult-related clashes involving suspected members of the Aiye and Eiye confraternities in the Imo Area of Ilesa, Osun State, at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Following a distress call, Commissioner of Police Samuel Etaifo, who is in charge of the 2026 Osun State Governorship Election, ordered the deployment of the Violence Crime Response Unit (VCRU) to the scene to prevent further escalation and apprehend those responsible.

The police recovered four expended cartridges and two Android mobile phones from the scene. Preliminary investigations are underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify all individuals involved.

The police warned against any retaliatory violence and urged the public to remain calm, report suspicious activities, and avoid spreading unverified information. The command is intensifying patrols and surveillance in Ilesa and surrounding areas to prevent further incidents.
