Five Killed in Cult Clashes in Ilesa, Osun State

In Ilesa, Osun State, five people were killed within 12 hours due to violent clashes between suspected rival cult groups, specifically the Aiye and Eiye confraternities. The first incident occurred around 8 pm on Monday in the Imo Area, resulting in three fatalities.

The Osun State Police Command confirmed the deaths, with Public Relations Officer Abiodun Ojelabi stating that the Commissioner of Police, Samuel Etaifo, directed the deployment of the Violence Crime Response Unit to the scene. On Tuesday morning, another incident in the Igbogi/Ikoti Area led to the deaths of two male adults, while one male and one female sustained gunshot injuries and were hospitalized.

Ojelabi indicated that the Tuesday killings were a reprisal linked to the previous day's clashes. The Commissioner of Police visited the crime scenes and instructed local police officials to apprehend the perpetrators.

No arrests had been made at the time of the report.
