Four Dead in Ibadan Clash; Oyo Government Promises Justice

The Oyo State Government confirmed that four individuals were killed and several others injured during a violent clash between rival groups in Ibadan, specifically in the Ojoo area of Akinyele Local Government Area. The violence reportedly began on Tuesday night and continued into Wednesday morning, allegedly sparked by a dispute involving a commercial tricycle rider and a wheelbarrow pusher over a point of sale transaction.

Eyewitness Iya Kadijat described the incident, noting that a tricycle rider was attacked after a failed transaction due to poor network service. Following the death of the rider, tensions escalated, leading to further violence where armed individuals allegedly opened fire, resulting in additional injuries.

Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal, representing Governor Seyi Makinde, condemned the violence, attributing it to criminal elements and urging residents to remain calm. Lawal assured that security agencies would apprehend those responsible and emphasized the government's commitment to restoring peace and stability across Oyo State.
