Customs Officer Dies in Accident on Ikom-Calabar Highway
Mr. Etteng Ise, a 54-year-old Customs officer serving at the Mfum Border in Etung Local Government Area, died in a motor accident on the Ikom-Calabar Highway in Cross River. The accident occurred near Alesi Village at approximately 2:56 p.m. on Monday.
According to a statement from the Police command in Cross River, signed by spokesman ASP Sunday Eitokpah, Ise lost control of his vehicle while attempting to avoid a pothole. The vehicle veered off the road into the bush and collided with a tree.
Ise was rushed to Holy Family Hospital in Ikom, where he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor. His remains were subsequently deposited at the hospital mortuary.
The Police command expressed condolences to Ise’s family, colleagues, and the Nigeria Customs Service, urging motorists to exercise caution, avoid excessive speed, and remain vigilant while driving, particularly on highways.
