Nigeria Customs Service to Review 397 Disqualified Applicants

The Nigeria Customs Service has initiated a review of complaints from 397 applicants who were disqualified during its recent recruitment screening. This action follows protests from candidates who believed they were shortlisted but were later barred from proceeding to the training college.
The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, ordered a case-by-case reassessment after meeting with some aggrieved applicants. The service clarified that this review does not guarantee admission and warned that applicants found guilty of certificate fraud or other criminal activities could face prosecution.
Complaints arose from candidates who had completed initial screenings and accepted provisional offers, only to find their names on the published list without receiving training invitations. Abdullahi Maiwada, a Deputy Comptroller of Customs, stated that the publication of names did not equate to final appointments, as all candidates must pass subsequent screening stages.
The review aims to ensure legitimate complaints are addressed, allowing affected candidates to present their cases.
