Nigeria Customs to Auction Seized PMS Worth 93 Million Naira

The Nigeria Customs Service has announced plans to auction seized Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) valued at 93 million Naira, as part of its ongoing Operation Whirlwind. The auction will include 64,410 liters of PMS, packaged in 2,550 jerry cans of 25 liters each and three drums with a capacity of 220 liters, as well as a 50,000-liter capacity fuel tanker intercepted along the Mubi-Uba axis.
The Deputy Comptroller, Lucki Aliyu, representing the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewal Adeniyi, disclosed this during a press conference in Yola. The operation aims to disrupt smuggling syndicates and is driven by intelligence.
The proceeds from the auction will be remitted to the federal account in line with the Customs Act of 2023. Aliyu emphasized that while the deregulation of petroleum product prices does not absolve the government of its responsibility to stabilize the market, the Customs Service remains committed to combating economic sabotage and encourages the public to report smuggling activities.
