Kano Leads with 1.57 Million PVC Registrations in Nigeria

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reported that 1,565,873 Nigerians successfully completed voter registration as of June 26, marking the conclusion of the seventh week of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. This figure includes 620,933 citizens who registered online and 944,940 who registered physically.

Kano State recorded the highest voter turnout with 118,207 registrations, representing 7.55% of the national total, followed by Lagos State with 78,360 (5%) and Delta State with 76,395 (4.88%). INEC temporarily suspended registrations in Ekiti and Osun States due to recently concluded governorship elections, adhering to Section 9(6) of the Electoral Act 2022.

Gender distribution showed that female registrants totaled 821,276 (52.45%), while male registrants were 744,597 (47.55%). The youth demographic aged 18-34 dominated the exercise with 1,082,985 registrations (69.16%).

INEC urged eligible citizens yet to register to utilize the online portal or visit designated physical registration centers nationwide.
