Kano State Leads Nigeria with 441,845 New Voters

Kano State emerged as the top state in Nigeria for voter registration, achieving 441,845 new registrants as reported by the Kano State Commission for Livestock Development, chaired by Dr. Aliyu Isa Aliyu.

This figure was released on Thursday and reflects ongoing efforts in the voter registration exercise that began on June 15, 2026. The state's performance underscores a growing political awareness and civic engagement among residents, largely driven by sustained voter mobilization efforts and public awareness campaigns initiated under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

A breakdown of the registration figures across the 44 local government areas revealed significant disparities, with Bichi local government area recording the highest number of new registrants at 30,806. The report also noted that urban and semi-urban areas showed stronger registration rates compared to rural areas.

The findings suggest that youth participation was a major factor in the state's outstanding performance, with recommendations to intensify voter education campaigns in areas with lower registration figures.
