Dalung Demands DSS Clarification on Senator Buba's Allegations

Former Minister of Youth and Sports Solomon Dalung has called on the Department of State Services (DSS) to disclose the findings of its investigation into allegations that Senator Shehu Buba Umar is linked to suspected bandit Abubakar Idris. Dalung emphasized the need for clarity on whether the allegations were thoroughly investigated and what conclusions were reached.

He stated that the matter transcends political disagreements and poses significant questions regarding national security. The controversy originated in September 2024 when Bauchi Governor Bala Mohammed petitioned security authorities, claiming Senator Buba facilitated banditry, including Idris's registration for the 2024 Hajj.

Senator Buba has dismissed these allegations as unfounded. Dalung pointed out that Idris was arrested by the DSS in August 2024 while preparing to travel for the Hajj, and he questioned the nature of the relationship between Buba and Idris.

Dalung stressed that as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence, the allegations warrant serious scrutiny.
